Plant Propagation: Puakenikeni

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

The Lei Poinaʻole Project (BeHawaii) in collaboration with the University of Hawaii - Mānoa (UHM), College of Tropical Agriculture & Human Resources (CTAHR), Oʻahu Urban Garden Center (UGC) in Pearl City, including the Master Gardeners; and PuaCulture/Kamaaina Community; is pleased to launch monthly lei plant propagation workshops beginning with the crown flower.

The objectives of each workshop, include:

*  Learning specific propagation techniques;

*  Disseminating (prior propagated) lei plants;

*  Consulting with subject matter experts (e.g., extension agents, LPP lei farm specialist);

*  Sharing grower and growing knowledge and experiences;

*  Learning about the cultural significance of lei plants;

*  Making lei together, talking story and building community;

*  Gathering Lei Poinaʻole Project related data; and

*  Strengthening and expanding the Nā Lei Poinaʻole Coalition (NLPC).

Please feel free to share the information with your networks (and we apologize if there are cross postings). Send information to info@behawaii.org to join the NLPC whether or not you participate in workshops---we welcome all supporters.

Mahalo for your interest and participation in either this first session, future sessions or other NLPC activities.
