Kukunaokalā

Natural Setting / Location: Tropical American
The mangroves that produce the material for the lei kukuna-o-ka-lā were introduced to Hawaiʻi in 1922. This simple single-strand lei is called kukunaokalā, or “rays of the sun” because of the ombre of red, gold, yellow, and orange colors of the stiff flowers.
