Pīkake

Pīkake comes from the Jasmine family. The plant grows tiny white ball-like flowers that emit a sweet, heavenly fragrance and bloom open over time. The lei kui made of pīkake flowers are highly prized and often worn for special occasions such as weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries. Princess Kaʻiulani is said to have loved the Jasmine flower as well as peacocks, and she named this flower after the Hawaiian word for peacock- pīkake.
